PCB Heat Transfer Model

This is a Matlab numerical simulation project for heat transfer through a Printed Circuit Board as part of a graduate course. The objective of the project was to examine the heat flow and temperature distribution along a circuit board with heat-generating components installed on it in the presence of insulation on 3 side and phase changing material (PCM - e.g. wax) on one side. 

The PCB is meant to work at peak load for 4 hours then shut off for some time until the PCB & PCM reach ambient temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. In addition to simulating the heat flow and temperature distribution, the project involved finding the minimum mass for the PCM such that it doesn't go above its melting point during the 4 hour peak operation.
