Shopping Cart Add-on

This is a project designed and prototyped by me in under 24 hours for a group of students participating in an entrepreneurial competition. Their idea was to make a snap-fit add-on for shopping carts that include; phone holder + charger, cup holder, kids' toy and a price checking system.

The body of this product was designed using Solidworks then split into multiple parts that were then 3D printed and joined together by gluing and heat fusing. The full assembly was later painted before installing the electronics. The electronics included a barcode reader, power button, LCD display and two control buttons. All those components were controlled by a microprocessor board (Arduino) that drew power from a power bank (used also by the charging cables) with the use of USB and SD Card Shields.
